27 September 2015 - "Serve every day of your mission..."

"Serve every day of your mission in such a way that when you get out of bed every morning, Satan says, "OH NO... HE'S AWAKE!"

President Egbert

The first week in the field has been awesome. I love working all day, every day! My companion is amazing! He is such a great example to me, and is an awesome trainor.  This area is a great place. This area is huge, or at least that´s what Elder _____ says, but I still am loving it. Its very calm here, so that is nice. We work very well together, I just wish my Spanish was better. We have been studying la idioma very hard, and it will come. On Sunday I bore my testimony in church, and I thought it was the best Spanish I have spoken yet. So I´m improving. I would say the only obstacle I am having right now is the Spanish, but I'm overcoming it. I LOVE THIS WARD! The members here are awesome, and on Sunday my comp, and I did an activity with one of the families and got 10 referrals. I'm super excited to be serving, and can´t wait to see the gospel change lives. We are planting seeds everywhere, and the work is progressing. Elder _____ really is a great example, and I love learning from him. One of our best success´s this week I believe was we got this less active family to come to church, and they have 3 or 4 kids, who are teenagers, and we shared the importance of The Book Of Mormon with them. So we are working hard. Thank you for everything!

.....Also, this week I was using the estudio eficaz method and had some really beautiful ideas about patterns between Nephi and Jesus Christ. I read in Jacob 1:9-12, which talks about Nephi right before he died and the traditions the nephites created to remember him. I think that Jacob recorded all of these details because he didn't want people to forget his brother and all of the ways he had helped his family over the years. I was thinking about the ways that Nephi had guided his family and realized that Christ did all of the same things, like leading us through trials, across water, and establishing a civilization (or church) that is trying to be a Zion. It was really really great set of realizations, and makes me want to live with more love of my family (at home and also the family that I am starting to accumulate here in the mission).

Hola presidente, buenas tardes.

Elder Park enjoying the reunion with family and spending quality time with his brother. The stool that his Stake President has everyone sign upon their departure and then again upon their return from an honorable mission. The same stool he uses to set them apart as missionaries.
Elder Park is going to help his family rebuild a family home after his home burned to the ground just weeks before his return home. Grateful for examples of the faith of this great family!
